UPDATE: The retirement party of Breckenridge Fire Chief Calvin Chaney was postponed by the City of Breckenridge due to some of the city staff being exposed to COVID-19. A new date for the event has not yet been announced.

A retirement party for Breckenridge Fire Chief Calvin Chaney will be held from 2 to 3:3o p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce/Economic Development Corp. office, 100 E. Elm St. The event will be open to the community.

Last month, Chaney announced that Jan. 7 will be his last day in the fire chief job, explaining that he has accepted a new position with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection beginning Jan. 10. He also has served as the Stephens County Fire Marshal, a position that is now filled by Constable Wayne McMullen.
