Breckenridge’s East Elementary School will have its Scholastic Book Fair this coming week, Dec. 6-10, and everyone has an opportunity to help by donating funds for the teachers to purchase books for their classrooms.

Although the students will have a chance to purchase books for themselves throughout the week, the school will host Family Night from 3:45 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7. The students and their families may attend the book fair after school, so that everyone can browse the selections and buy some books.

Additionally, anyone can make a donation to buy books for the students to take home or to a specific East Elementary teacher for their classroom with the following online links:

• To make a donation that will be used to make sure every student at East Elementary gets a book, click here. Abby Moore, the Breckenridge Independent School District librarian, said on her Facebook page that the form says the donations are for the kindergarten classes but that the donations will be used for all grades at East, Pre-K through second grade. “I had to choose one grade when creating the account, BUT the donations will be distributed evenly for all grades at East. 100% of the funds donated will go to East students for books!” she wrote. “…we recently did something similar at South, and it was a HUGE success… we sent almost 100 South kids home with a book… I will never forget those kids’ smiles!”
• Additionally, donors can choose to donate to a specific teacher, who will use the funds to purchase books for her classroom or to buy a book for a student who otherwise didn’t get a book at the fair. To donate to a specific teacher, click here.

Those making donations may give any amount of money, but the donations must by made by Thursday, Dec. 9.
