Breckenridge High School’s head football coach Casey Pearce was named the 3A Coach of the Week for Week 8 by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.

“Each coach recognized with this special honor typifies the best in Texas high school football,” according to the Dave Campbell’s website. “Head coach Casey Pearce has returned to his alma mater and in his second season at the helm he has the Buckaroos on the right path.”

Pearce, a 1993 BHS graduate, returned to Breckenridge last year when he was hired as the school district’s athletic director and head football coach. His first season as the Buckaroos’ coach was in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, which affected not only his initial meetings with the coaches and players but also the 2020 summer strength and conditioning workout and led to the canceling of three games during the season.

With wins over Clyde (44-29) and Early (37-20), Pearce’s Buckaroos now have a district record of 2-0 this season. They will play the Wall High School Hawks beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, in Buckaroo Stadium.
