Annual Chamber of Commerce golf tournament raises funds for local scholarships
The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce held its annual Scholarship Golf Tournament in memory of Johnny Bates on Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Breckenridge Country Club.
“We had a great tournament this year. I really appreciate all the sponsors,” said Carrie Holson, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce. “Of course, we appreciate the players who came out and gave up their Saturday. This money goes for a good cause — it goes to help our Breckenridge students with the scholarship.”
Holson said the number of scholarships they are able to give away is based on how successful the tournament is and how much money they are able to raise. Last year, she said, they were able to give away six $1,000 scholarships.
In addition to thanking all the sponsors, players people and business that made donations, Holson also said they appreciated the Breckenridge Country Club for allowing them to hold the tournament at their course.
“We just can’t do any of these events we do without our sponsors,” she said.
