The Breckenridge Fine Arts Center will host a reception for the artists featured in the 30th annual Juried Art Show that is on display through Aug. 28 in both galleries.

The reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served, and the reception will be open to the public.

According to a post on the BFAC’s Facebook page, masks will not be required but will be encouraged. Hand-sanitizing stations will be located throughout the arts center.

Saturday will also be the last day of the Juried Art Show exhibit, which features a variety of paintings, drawings, sculpture and fiber art.

The paintings and drawings include oils, watercolors, pastels, acrylics, pencils, watercolor pencils, charcoal, melted wax and mixed media. There are also sculptures in bronze and steel and several fiber arts pieces. The artists come from as near as Breckenridge and as far away as New York, Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico. Most of the artists are from Texas, though, including Graham, Wichita Falls, Abilene, Denton, Grand Prairie, Granbury, Fort Worth, Huntsville and more.

More than 70 pieces of art were chosen by juror Patty Rae Wellborn of Abilene to be exhibited in the show, including landscapes, abstract pieces, florals, still lifes, portraits, animals and other subject matters. Then, she came to Breckenridge in mid-July to choose the winners of the show’s seven prizes.

More than $5,ooo, it total, was awarded for the following prizes:

  • Best of Show (first place): Oracle, colored pencil, by Tanja Gant of Hawkins
  • Clay Pitzer Memorial Award (second place): Telluride, oil on canvas, by Bev Boren of Trophy Club
