The Breckenridge Fine Arts Center’s 30th annual Juried Art Show is on display through Aug. 28 in both galleries and features a variety of paintings, drawings, sculpture and fiber art.

“Hackney” by Mary Brooks of Abilene

More than 70 pieces of art were chosen by juror Patty Rae Wellborn of Abilene to be exhibited in the show.

The paintings and drawings include oils, watercolors, pastels, acrylics, pencils, watercolor pencils, charcoal, melted wax and mixed media. There are also sculptures in bronze and steel and several fiber arts pieces. The artists come from as near as Breckenridge and as far away as New York, Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico. Most of the artists are from Texas, though, including Graham, Wichita Falls, Abilene, Denton, Grand Prairie, Granbury, Fort Worth, Huntsville and more.

Wellborn selected a range of subject matter, and the exhibit displays landscapes, abstract pieces, florals, still lifes, portraits, animals and more.

A reception for the artists will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served. The reception will be open to the public.

The BFAC is located at 207 N. Breckenridge Ave. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; the center is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. For more information, call 254-559-6602 or send an email to info@BreckenridgeFineArt.org.
