Beginning Monday, July 19, drivers can expect to encounter lane closures and traffic shifts on U.S. Highway 183 North as a project gets underway to remove and replace the road surface along with several culverts, curb and gutters, sidewalks, and drive ways.

The Texas Department of Transportation’s contractor, FoutsCo Paving Company of Argyle, will be working on U.S. 183 (North Breckenridge Avenue) from County Road 257 south to U.S. Highway 180 (Walker Street) in Breckenridge.

The City of Breckenridge’s recent project to replace all the water and sewer lines within that area has been completed.

The road work is anticipated to be complete by Spring 2022, weather permitting. Throughout the project, various lane closures and traffic shifts will occur; however, the contractor will strive to keep one lane of traffic open in each direction, according to a TxDOT news release.

Motorists are asked to use caution, avoid distractions and slow their speed through the work zone.
