BISD to offer free breakfasts, lunches for local children in June
To help make sure the children of Breckenridge continue to have at least two nutritious meals a day, even after school is out, the Breckenridge Independent School District is once again participating in an annual program to offer free breakfast and lunch for kids throughout June and for a few days in July and August.
The Summer Feeding Program will provide breakfast and lunch at no charge for all children ages 18 and younger at the South Elementary School cafeteria. The meals are free for the kids, but parents or other adult family members may join the kids for breakfast and/or lunch at a charge. Adults will pay $2.55 for breakfast and $3.75 for lunch.
Meals will be offered Mondays through Thursdays with breakfast being served from 8 to 9 a.m. and lunch served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program will be offered June 1 through July 1, July 26-29, and August 2-10.
The program is part of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Summer Meals program and is offered statewide by local sponsors.
