Nayeli Hernandez crowned 2021 Buckaroo Queen
By Carla Pilkington/Breckenridge Texan
On Saturday night, Jan. 30, Breckenridge High School’s Bailey Auditorium was transformed into a royal stage as Nayeli Hernandez was crowned the 2021 Buckaroo Queen by Great Lord Chamberlain Jonas Arellano in the school’s 96th Coronation.
The ceremony featured the theme “A Night Under the Northern Stars” and included an elegantly colorful backdrop, which was reflected in the dresses worn by the girls in the Royal Court. Throughout the ceremony, the Masters of Ceremonies Addison Dickenson and Anson Rodgers discussed the history of the event, including the colors of the dresses worn by participants. Addison explained that each year, a theme and color scheme are chosen by the directors. This year’s dresses were in various shades of royal blue, lavender, burgundy and emerald green, many with accents of gold or silver.
Included in the Royal Court were BHS class favorites, the homecoming court and each student organization’s sweethearts and beaus. The annual event also featured entertainment provided by their classmates.
