New sheriff, county officials sworn in at midnight Jan. 1
As the calendar changed from 2020 to 2021, several new officials were sworn in at the Stephens County Courthouse.
Just after midnight on Jan. 1, 2021, Stephens County Judge Michael Roach swore in Kevin Roach as the new sheriff.
In November, then-Chief Deputy Kevin Roach was elected sheriff, garnering more votes than his opponent Kathy Marcom. Roach ran for sheriff on the Republican Party ticket after Will Holt decided not to run for re-election.
Also sworn in on Jan. 1 were Will Warren, who was re-elected as County Commissioner for Precinct 3, and newly elected County Commissioner for Precinct 1 David Fambro, who ran for the office after Ed Russell decided not to run for a third term.
Wayne McMullen was sworn in as both the Stephens County Constable and a sheriff’s deputy. He ran unopposed for the constable position after Adam Babilon decided to retire and did not seek reelection.
Other deputies sworn in by Kevin Roach were Justin Rose, Bill Flournoy and John Green.
