A little more than a week after a Stephens County man was arrested on theft and meth charges, a second man was arrested in connection to the same incident, according to a media release from Stephens County Sheriff Will Holt.

On Dec. 23, Jesse D. Cates, age 64, was arrested by the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant in connection to the an incident on Dec. 15 when Robert Standridge was arrested.  The S.O. recently obtained a warrant for the arrest of Cates for the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 equal to or more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams, a second-degree felony.  The warrant was for the same criminal offense committed by Standridge on the same date.

According to the original media release, about nine grams of methamphetamine were discovered in the camper, divided into multiple plastic bags. Additionally, 2.5 ounces of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were also confiscated, along with other evidence, Holt reported.

The address on FM 3201 near County Road 217, where Standridge was arrested, is owned by Cates, and he lives in a residence on that site, too, the report stated.

Cates’ bond was set at $25,000, and he bonded out the next day.
