Buckaroo Band entertains audience with annual light show on Friday night

There may not have been a local football game on Friday night, but fans still filed into Buckaroo Stadium. Instead of the usual Friday Night Lights, they were there to see the Breckenridge High School marching band’s annual “Black Out” performance.
The Pride of Breckenridge – Buckaroo Marching Band performed its light show on Friday night, Oct. 30, despite the fact that the football game against the Jim Ned Indians had been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.
The “Black Out” show started at 8 p.m. in Buckaroo Stadium and lasted a little over 30 minutes. Following a performance of the National Anthem and the BHS school song, the lights in the stadium were turned off and the audience waved glow sticks in the air as the band performed several songs while adorned with a variety of bright lights.
This is the first year for BHS Band Director William Odom and Assistant Band Director James Wilhite to direct the Buckaroo Band. This year’s Drum Major is Kayla Wood, and the Assistant Drum Major is Diana Mendoza.
