Beverlie Ann Phariss, 85, of Breckenridge, Texas, went to be with the Lord, October 5, 2020, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. on October 8, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger under the direction of Melton Kitchens Funeral Home. The family will welcome friends at the Chapel of Memories from 6-7 p.m. on October 7.

Beverlie Ann Crawley Phariss was born March 8, 1935, in Kokomo, Texas, in Eastland County to Roy and Modell Crawley. She graduated from Gorman High School and later earned an Associate’s degree in child development.

Beverlie met the love of her life at Ranger Junior College and married Robert (Bob) Phariss on June 12, 1954, on the campus of Ranger College. Her passion was her family and taking care of children at the Hamlin Day Care Center, where she worked for many years. She always said, “you will always have housework, but your kids are only with you for a short time.” She loved to sew and quilt. She made most of her own clothes and her children’s clothes. One of her favorite things was to take the bluebonnet run each year and look at the wildflowers. Beverlie was the matriarch of her family and went by many names: daughter, wife, Mom, Nana, Nana B and Aunt Bev. She taught her children and grandkids to always be there for the people you love and to always be present.

Her grandchildren describe her as the best kind of Nana. Kind beyond measure. She told the best Suzie Q stories. She made the best Rice Krispies treats, macaroni and cheese and iced chocolate brownies. These were always on hand when the grandkids were there. She just made everything more fun.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Brown Crawley and Myrtis Modell Wood Crawley; two sisters, Billie Joe Craddock and Dena Roy Cornelius; one brother, Jimmy Max Crawley; and one daughter, Debbie Phariss.

Beverlie is survived by her beloved husband, Robert (Bob) Phariss; son, Robert P. Phariss; three daughters, Leeia Neal and husband Gary Neal, Lorna Moore and Lisa Wright; ten grandchildren, Chase Phariss, Teri Wooddell, Jennifer Taylor, Trey Neal, Tye Jeffrey, Trista Hawkins, Cody Wright, Danielle White, Kay-Anna Cargile and Stephanie Ramirez; fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

No other words to describe her, but Mom was just Mom.

We rejoice that Alzheimer’s no longer has a hold on her.

Come unto to me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer Association and may be left at the Melton Kitchens Funeral Home office. Condolences may be made at meltonkitchens.com
