With no one besides school district personnel and members of the media attending the Breckenridge Independent School District’s Public Hearing regarding the 2020-2021 budget and proposed tax rate, the Board of Trustees closed the hearing after 15 minutes on Wednesday evening.

Following the Public Hearing, the Board opened its second meeting of the night and voted to approve their proposed budget and tax rate, as well as some final adjustments to the 2019-2020 budget.

The BISD property tax rate was set at 1.0547 per $100 valuation, which is slightly less than last year’s rate of 1.0683.

BISD Superintendent Bryan Allen said the tax rate is basically set by the Texas Education Agency. “We don’t have much choice anymore,” he told the trustees.

The Board of Trustees also approved the 2020-2021 budget for the school district. For a summary look at the budget, as compared to last year’s budget, click the following link: BISD Budget Summary
