Annual Stephens County Memorial Day ceremony scheduled for Monday at veterans monument

Members of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7767 and Auxiliary, along with Stephens County residents, will pay their respects on Memorial Day to those Stephens County veterans who have died in the past year.

The annual ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in front of the Stephens County Courthouse is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Monday, May 25, on the courthouse lawn, 200 W. Walker St. in Breckenridge.

Each year, the names of the local veterans who died in the past year are added to the monument. Last year, a new stone was added to the memorial.

The following names have been added to the memorial this year:

To have a name added to the memorial next year, contact County Judge Michael Roach’s Office at 254-559-2190 or the County Veterans Service Officer at 254-559-5720.

The VFW and Stephens County accept donations for the yearly ceremony to honor the memory of the local veterans.
