Local residents meet Texas House candidates at forum
About 30 local citizens turned out to meet Republican candidates vying for the Texas House District 60 position being vacated by Mike Lang on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at the TSTC Technology Center. The candidate forum was sponsored by the Stephens County Republican Party.
Three of the four candidates running for the position, Jon Francis of Cisco, Christopher Perricone of Mineral Wells and Kellye SoRelle of Granbury, were on hand to answer questions during the forum and met with citizens before and after the questioning session. Candidate Glenn Rogers of Graford was unable to attend because of a scheduling conflict.
During the forum, which was moderated by Stephens County Judge Michael Roach, each candidate was asked eight questions about their views on issues ranging from their criteria for selecting a new Texas Speaker of the House to gun laws such as constitutional carry and Red Flag Laws. Each candidate was then given three minutes to answer each question.
Following the formal question and answer session, there was a Lighting Round question session in which Roach asked an additional 10 questions and each candidate was allowed to just answered yes or no answer on whether the candidate supported the issue he was asking about.
There have been other forums in the area that featured all four candidates. Here are links to videos from a couple of those events:
