Hubble leaving Buckaroos for Canton Eagles
Casey Hubble, Breckenridge Independent School District’s Athletic Director and head football coach, is leaving the Breckenridge Buckaroos to take on a similar position with the Canton ISD Eagles.
Hubble said he and the Canton ISD Board of Trustees met this morning and approved the contract.
“I was hurrying back (to Breckenridge) to let the kids and the staff know before the information got out,” he said. “But, this day and age, I guess you can’t do that.”
He said he’s grateful for the last six years in Breckenridge. “Breckenridge has been a special place, and I guess part of me will always be a Buckaroo,” Hubble said. “The kids and the community have been very good about buying into my philosophy.”
Hubble said he and his family will miss Breckenridge and the people here. “It’s a place where my kids and my family lived, where my home is. I’ve had some special times here,” he said.
The job in Canton was an opportunity he needed to pursue, Hubble said. Canton is a 4A-Division II school.
Earl Jarrett, BISD interim superintendent, said Hubble has not officially resigned yet but that he knew Hubble had met with Canton this morning and signed a contract.
Jarrett said he’s planning to communicate with the BISD Board of Trustees members and let them know what he thinks is the best course of action, based on his experiences. Then, they will decide what action to take next.
According to the Canton Herald, Hubble said that as soon as he could “find a place to live,” he would be starting the position.
