BISD continues seeking input from community in superintendent search

Just a few people attended the Breckenridge Independent School District sessions on Monday to gather information for the Board of Trustees’ search for a new superintendent. However, anyone interested in adding their opinions and ideas to the process can do so anonymously online.

Rick Howard, a field service representative with the Texas Association of School Boards, was on hand Monday evening to facilitate the discussion. He took notes on the topics discussed for the TASB’s  Executive Search Services, which has been hired by BISD to assist with the work to select a new superintendent for the district.

For those who could not attend the meeting, a questionnaire with the same questions asked by Howard is available online at https://surveys.tasb.org/s3/breckenridge-leadership-survey. Click that link any time before midnight Saturday, Jan. 25, to provide your responses online. The process is completely anonymous, Howard said.

As of Monday evening, 58 completed surveys had been submitted online.

Those who fill out the questionnaire are asked to list some of the strengths of the school district, as well as some of the challenges it faces. Participants also are asked to list personal and professional characteristics the school board should look for in a new superintendent.

Applications for the superintendent position are due by midnight Feb. 18. Interviews are scheduled for March, and the Board of Trustees expects to hire the new superintendent by the end of April.

For more information, call Brittany Edgar at BISD at 254-522-9600 ext 6002.
