After bad weather forced last year’s Christmas parade to be canceled, the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce is giving the beloved parade theme another chance. This year’s Christmas parade will be “Another Charlie Brown Christmas.”

“Since we didn’t have a chance to have the ‘Charlie Brown Christmas’ parade last year, we just decided to have that theme again this year,” said Executive Director of the Chamber Carrie Holson. “Some people already had plans and decorations for the ‘Charlie Brown’ theme, so they can use them this year.”

The parade is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in downtown Breckenridge. The deadline to register an entry in the parade is Friday, Dec. 6, at the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce, 100 E. Elm St.

The parade is open to organizations, businesses, churches, clubs, groups, even individuals. Parade entries can include cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, trailers, bicycles, groups of walkers, even horses. There are a few rules to be followed, and a list is available at the Chamber of Commerce and on its website, www.breckenridgetexas.com.

The parade route will take the floats east on Walker Street from North Miller Street. The parade will continue east, crossing over Breckenridge Avenue and turning left at Baylor Avenue (one block east of Breckenridge Avenue). After the parade, floats may tear down in the 100 and 200 blocks of East Elm, including the parking lots behind Clay’s Tires and across from the Chamber of Commerce.

All entries will be introduced when they are in front of the courthouse. Each float or entry that elects to be judged will be judged on the interpretation of the theme (“Another Charlie Brown Christmas”), creativity, and originality. The judge’s trailer will be on the north side of Walker Street in front of the courthouse.
