Breckenridge gets into the Thanksgiving spirit

In preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday, most community activities in Breckenridge have slowed down. Last week, however, was busy with Thanksgiving lunches at a couple of the schools and North Elementary’s annual Turkey Trot.

Thanksgiving will be Thursday, Nov. 28. Many local businesses and government agencies will be closed. Breckenridge schools are out for the holiday, with classes resuming on Monday, Dec. 2.

The VFW 7767 in Breckenridge will serve a free Thanksgiving lunch on Thursday, Nov. 28. The menu will include turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, dressing, yams, green beans, corn, and more. They hope to be ready to serve by 11:30 a.m. Deliveries can be arranged to those who need it by calling 254-559-3105 before 9 a.m. Thursday.

Community events will begin to pick up again after Thanksgiving, with the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center’s Tour of Homes, the annual Christmas parade and other events. You can keep up with what’s going on in town on the Breckenridge Texan’s Calendar of Events.
