Thursday, Sept. 19
Public Meeting
Breckenridge’s East and North Elementary schools will host a public meeting on Thursday, Sept. 19, concerning the A-F Accountability Rating, which includes the Targeted Improvement Plan that will be used to increase student achievement. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the East Elementary cafeteria, 1310 E. Elm St., and will also include discussion about the Title 1 Parent/Teacher compacts.

Saturday, Sept. 21
Jalapeno Popper Cook-Off
The City of Breckenridge will host a Jalapeno Popper Cook-Off  during Breck Trade Days on Saturday, Sept. 21. The first place winner will receive $100, and the People’s Choice winner will receive an engraved cutting board. Pick up an entry form with all the rules at the Breckenridge City Offices or call Pam Wright at 254-559-8287.

Tuesday, Oct. 1
National Night Out
The Breckenridge Police Department will host the eighth annual National Night Out in Breckenridge from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Stephens County Law Enforcement Center, 210 E. Dyer St. The local event is part of the National Night Out, which is designed to strengthen community spirit and partnerships with law enforcement and first responders, generate support for community organizations and programs, raise crime prevention awareness, and send a strong message to the criminals that this we are all working together to fight back. It will include food, drink, games, prizes and booths from local and regional law enforcement, first responders, and local organizations and businesses. More information to come.

Wednesday, Oct. 23
Homecoming Parade
The Breckenridge High School Homecoming Parade will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23. The Homecoming football game will be Friday, Oct. 25, against Early High School in Buckaroo Stadium.

Saturday, Oct. 26
Stephens County Health Fair
The annual Stephens County Health Fair will be from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at First Baptist Church, 301 S. Rose Ave. There will be more than 40 vendors on site, and door prizes will be given away. Flu shots will be available for $20, and Stephens Memorial Hospital will sponsor free lab tests, including glucose, bun creatinine, sodium, potassium, CO2 Chloride, Cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides, HDL, Hgb A1C and PSA (for men over 40). Anyone planning to have the free lab test should not eat or drink after midnight (Friday night/Saturday morning) with the exception of plain coffee, plain tea or water. More information to come.
