The Breckenridge community will have a chance to sample local holiday fare at the fourth annual Taste of the Holidays, hosted by the Rotary Club of Breckenridge on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

The event will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Popular, 103 W. Walker. Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door and may be purchased from local Rotarians or at First National Bank, Interbank and the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce.

All proceeds from the event will go toward the Rotary Club of Breckenridge’s community projects, including scholarships for high school seniors.

“The main reason we started Taste of the Holidays is because we wanted to offer more scholarships at the high school,” said Rotarian Sherry Strickland. “So, that’s primarily why we do it; although the money can be used for any of our projects, primarily, it’s for scholarships.”

On Tuesday, attendees will have an opportunity to taste a variety of foods from seven area restaurants/food vendors while listening to music by Kyle Fambro. Prizes will be awarded for the People’s Choice – Top Taste for the best food, and People’s Choice – Top Table for the best decorated table.

This year’s food participants will be:
  • JR’s BBQ
  • Wayland Creations
  • Vintage Butterfly
  • The Water Store
  • Nourish by the Gym
  • Fambro Family Farms

The Rotary does not charge the food vendors to participate. The Taste of the Holidays offers restaurants, catering businesses and others who sell food, such as jams, jellies, baked goods, etc., a chance to showcase their products.

The event is sponsored by McDonald’s, Breckenridge Interbank, Bayer Chevrolet Buick Cadillac Inc., First National Bank, Jonell, Inc., Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home, Strickland’s Inspections and Susanna Corporation.
