Last week, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspected drug dealer at a roadside park south of Breckenridge.

Stetson Garner

According to the “Complaint and Affidavit of Probable Cause for Arrest” filed with Justice of the Peace Steve Spoon, on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at a few minutes after 6 p.m., Stephens County Sheriff Will Holt spotted Stetson Anthony Garner, a 28-year-old male, in a light blue BMW at the roadside park on U.S. Highway 183 South near the intersection with County Road 160. Holt reported that, initially, Garner refused to comply with instructions to put both of his hands up, keeping his right hand on the floorboard.

Holt suspected that Garner was hiding drugs. After Garner was handcuffed, Lt. Bacel Cantrell with the Breckenridge Police Department and Deputy Ryan Drake arrived on the scene to assist Holt.

Holt reported that he searched the vehicle and found several small bags of methamphetamine weighing approximately 7.5 grams under the driver’s seat and on the driver’s floorboard. He also found some used and unused bags and a small amount of marijuana. The suspected methamphetamine showed a positive result when Holt field-tested it for the drug.

Garner was arrested on a parole violation warrant and was also charged with Manufacture/Intent to Deliver of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, equal to or more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams, which is a first-degree felony.

According to the sheriff, Garner has several previous felony convictions and deferred adjudications, including for the manufacture and delivery of controlled substances, burglary, and credit card abuse.

He was transported to the Stephens County Jail. On Thursday, Oct. 17, Spoon set Garner’s bail at $50,000, and he remained in jail, as of Monday afternoon, Oct. 21.

Holt said that the investigation is on-going.
