Tax office mails statements for 2019 property taxes
The statements for the 2019 property tax assessed for the Breckenridge Independent School District, Stephens County, the City of Breckenridge, and the Stephens Memorial Hospital District were mailed out last week.
Local property owners should should have received a statement or should receive one. Christie Latham, the Stephens County Tax Assessor/Collector asks property owners to make sure that they receive a statement for each piece of property that they own (real estate, personal, and mineral).
The taxes are due now and are payable to the Stephens County Tax Office, Stephens County Courthouse, 200 W Walker, Breckenridge, TX 76424. The deadline to pay the taxes without penalty and interest is Jan. 31, 2020. Property owners may pay in person, by mail, or by check or credit card online at the Tax Office’s website for a convenience fee.

The Tax Office is open from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Stephens County Courthouse.
