The Pride of Breckenridge – Buckaroo Band marched in their new uniforms for the first time at Friday night’s football game in Cisco.

The new uniforms feature black pants and a green, white and black jacket with the Buckaroo logo on the front. The black hats have a green “B” on the front and a tall white plume on top.

At a school board meeting last year, Breckenridge High School Band Director Dane Richardson said the new uniforms are more functional. Instead of hems, there are snaps on the uniforms so they don’t have to be sewn every time they need to be hemmed. Also, the new uniforms are wash-and-wear and do not have to be dry cleaned. Additionally, the fabric is lighter and stretchier than the previous uniforms.

In that same meeting, Richardson explained how the new design was chosen. He said he spoke with several different companies when going through the design process. He took some of the sketches they made and put them in a Google form and did a survey with kids and parents, conducting several rounds of the polling. He then took the top three or four most popular choices and made a few changes based on some suggestions he had received and then ran them through the survey process again. The result of the process was presented on the football field Friday night.

The previous uniforms were more than 10 years old.
