Bunco game, art auction to benefit Stephens Memorial Hospital
Two upcoming fundraisers will benefit the local hospital through projects sponsored by the auxiliary organization and the Stephens Memorial Hospital Foundation.
The third annual Buckaroo Bunco Bonanza, hosted by the Stephens Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 10. A week later, the hospital’s foundation will host an art raffle/reception. Both events will raise funds to continue the remodeling of patient rooms at the hospital, and the art raffle also will fund scholarships.
Buckaroo Bunco Bonanza
The Hospital Auxiliary’s third annual Buckaroo Bunco Bonanza will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Chandelier Ridge, 5470 U.S. Highway 183 South.
The money raised through the event will be used by the auxiliary to remodel a patient room for the comfort of the patients, families and visitors. Last year, they bought more comfortable furniture for the families and a recumbent bicycle for the cardiac care center.
The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for a review of bunco rules and lessons for new players. The event will officially begin at 6 p.m.
Tickets cost $25 per person, and groups may reserve tables of up to 12 players. A light dinner will be served, but teams are encouraged to bring snacks for their tables.
In addition to Bunco winner prizes, there will also be a benefit drawing for a $500 gift card to United Supermarket. Tickets for the drawing will cost $5 each.
The organization is seeking local sponsors to donate money to the event. The various donation levels earn the donors some fringe benefits, including entrance tickets, logo placement and more.
The Auxiliary serves the hospital by raising funds with events such as the Bunco party and through sales at the hospitals gift shop to help with the costs of equipment, furnishings and maintenance.

Make Room For Art
The Stephens Memorial Hospital Foundation will host the Make Room for Art raffle/reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center. The event will raise funds to continue the remodeling of patient rooms and for scholarships for students going into the medical field.
The hospital foundation is looking for local and area artists to participate in the fundraiser by donating a piece of their art. Donated pieces can include woodwork, welding, sculpture, painting, sewing, glass work, quilting and more. The raffle/reception will serve to honor the artists, as well as to raise money through a silent auction.
The event will include a silent auction, raffle, door prizes, appetizers made by the auxiliary members and music by the Breckenridge High School band. There will be no admission fee charged, but donations will be accepted.
For more information or to arrange to donate a piece of art, call Susie Pennartz at 254-559-2241 or Chris Curtis at 254-559-3363.
