Parker, Burchett to kick off new sports talk show tonight

If there’s one thing Charlie Parker and Robert Burchett are passionate about, it’s sports. Yes, they do like to talk about sports. And that’s exactly what they plan on doing when they kick off their new weekly sports talk show at 7 p.m. tonight, Aug. 5, on KLXK FM-93.5.

Charlie Parker
Parker said the format will be a sports talk, call-in show that will cover all sports, not just local football. They plan to talk about NASCAR, wrestling, baseball, basketball, football … anything that’s going on in the world of sports. During the Monday night shows, listeners can call, email or text their questions to the hosts.
“I’ve always grown up with sports, and my dad taught me, if you’re going to talk sports, you need to talk more than football, basketball and baseball,” Parker said. “There’s other sports, you need to get involved, or at least know something about all of it.”
During football season, he said, they’ll recap what happened during the Friday night games and look ahead to what’s coming up.
“We’ll try to get some of the other coaches from around the area, like Brent West (and) Denney Faith, to call us for five or ten minutes,” he said. “We’ll be talking to authors of different books that come out, doing phone interviews.”
Parker said they had a sports talk show once before, back when he worked at the station in Breckenridge years ago, and it went pretty well.

Robert Burchett
Parker started in the radio business as a full-time sports talk show host for an hour-long show that aired Monday through Friday at KTOK in Oklahoma City. Currently, on Breckenridge’s KLXK, he hosts a morning country music show Monday through Friday and a classic county music show on Saturday mornings. During the Buckaroo sports season, he can be heard on the radio alongside fellow broadcaster Lance Kitchens during game broadcasts.
Burchett, a math teacher at Breckenridge High School, is also the announcer for all the Buckaroo varsity home football games at Buckaroo Stadium. This summer he also did baseball game broadcasts on the radio with Parker during the Little League all-star season.
To listen to the show, which will air Monday nights from 7 to 8 p.m., sports fans in the station’s listening area can tune in at 93.5 on their radio. The show can also be heard online as it’s streamed live on the station’s website, http://klxkkrooradio.com/.
“We’re just going to have fun with it,” Parker said. “It’s just going to be two old boys sitting back talking, and if you want to comment, you can. My nickname when I was at KEBC was the ‘Lunatic on the Wadio.’ So, we’re just the two lunatics. Chaos on Monday night.”
