Rotary to host third annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive this week
For the past two years, the Breckenridge Fire Department has won the Breckenridge Rotary Club’s “Battle of the Badges” blood drive, and this week they will have a chance to win the friendly competition again while the Breckenridge Police Department and the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office try for their first win.
The third annual Breckenridge Battle of the Badges Blood Drive will be Thursday, June 6, through Saturday, June 8. The Rotary Club is teaming up with Carter BloodCare for the project, which will allow blood donors to vote for one of three local first-responder groups — the Breckenridge Fire Department, the Breckenridge Police Department and the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office — when they give blood.
During the three-day event, blood donors will drop their vote in the ballot box, stating whether their donation honors the firefighters, police officers or sheriff’s deputies. At the end, whichever team has the most votes wins.
To honor the winning agency, Carter BloodCare will provide a plaque to the winning chief in recognition for bringing the community together in the spirit of saving lives.
All donors will get a t-shirt and a coupon for half-off Texas Ranger tickets. Last year, the community donated 43 units of blood during the campaign.
There will be three days designated for the Battle of the Badges Blood Drives:
