April 15
- A report of debit/credit card abuse was made, where it was believed the victim’s card was “skimmed.” Over $2,600 were illegally retrieved from the victim’s bank account and or spent on various items in the DFW area.
- A deputy transported a male county inmate to a Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison near Abilene.
April 16
- Sheriff Will Holt and two deputies participated in East Elementary’s Cowboy Cookout, where they grilled burgers for students, parents, and staff.
April 17
- A deputy transported a male inmate to and from Graham for a psychological evaluation.
- A deputy served a parole violation warrant, issued by TDCJ, on a 36-year-old male who was already in custody at the Stephens County Jail.
- A deputy took a delayed report of rumble strips being stolen on FM 576 West. The rumble strips are valued at approximately $1,900.
April 18
- Deputies made two round trips to a juvenile detention center in Post to bring a local juvenile back to Breckenridge for a hearing. After the hearing, the juvenile was taken back to Post. One deputy made the first roundtrip while another deputy made the second.
April 19
- The Sheriff’s Office responded to a mobile disturbance in the 400 block of East Dyer Street. A 24-year-old male subject was contacted, and he was wanted out of Brazoria County for Assault on a Public Servant. He was arrested and taken to Stephens County Jail.
- A deputy submitted a report of animal cruelty for a residence on U.S. Highway 183 North. A pet dog was being neglected and sustained serious injury. A warrant of arrest was obtained as a result of this investigation.
April 20
- A deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle. As a result of the contact, a 33-year-old female driver was arrested for driving while license invalid with a previous conviction.
April 22
- The Sheriff and deputies served a prison parole violation arrest warrant at house in the 200 block of North Jackson Avenue. Upon arresting the wanted 53-year-old male, a deputy found methamphetamine in the male’s pocket. The house where the male was located is within a drug-free zone, meaning the charge for Possession of a Controlled Substance can be elevated one level. The male was transported to jail where he was booked on the parole warrant and for the felony charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less than 1 gram in a drug-free zone.
April 23
- The Sheriff spoke to the Rotary Club at L&L Restaurant and fielded questions from its members.
April 25
- The Sheriff’s Office arrested a 35-year-old male at the courthouse for an insufficient bond warrant related to a past charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1.
- A deputy served an arrest warrant on a 26-year-old female in the 2300 block of West Walker Street. The warrant was out of McLennan County for Theft of Property.
- A deputy traveled to Shackelford County Jail and arrested a 31-year-old male on a felony probation violation warrant. The deputy then transported the male back to Stephens County Jail.
April 26
- The Sheriff spoke to the Lions Club at L&L Restaurant and fielded questions from its members.
- A deputy took a delayed report of Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle on FM 1853.
April 27
- A deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding on U.S. Highway 180 East. Upon contacting the driver a drug investigation ensued. The driver, who was from Louisiana, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana equal to or more than 2 ounces but less than 4 ounces.
April 29
- A deputy transported one of our male county inmates to a prison near Huntsville.
April 30
- A deputy served an arrest warrant on a 48-year-old male who was already in the Stephens County Jail. The warrant was for a motion to revoke probation out of Young County.
- A 43-year-old female was served a criminal trespass warning for a residence in the 3600 block of U.S. Highway 180 East. It was issued due to her being involved in a theft there.
- A deputy took a delayed report of theft of a Play Station 4. The item was found at a pawn shop and eventually returned to the owner.
May 1
- The Sheriff’s Office served an arrest warrant on a 37-year-old female for an Insufficient Bond on a past charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
May 3
- Sheriff Will Holt participated at an event at BISD for parents and guardians of students with special needs. Sheriff Holt talked about the Take Me Home program and fielded questions from the audience.
May 4
- A deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at East Walker Street and South Merrill Avenue. A drug investigation ensued, which resulted in the 44-year-old male driver and 24-year-old female passenger being arrested for the 1st Degree Felony Offense of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) Penalty Group 1 equal to or more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams.
Calls for service include but are not limited to: 911 calls, non-emergency calls, registering sex offenders, traffic accidents/hazards, transporting prisoners and juveniles in and out of the county, mental hospital transports, court security, and some types of proactive calls.
