February 25
• A deputy served a felony arrest warrant on an 18-year-old male who was already in the Stephens County Jail. The warrant was for a motion to adjudicate related to a previous burglary of a habitation offense.

• The Sheriff attended a Stephens County elected officials’ workshop in the courthouse. The goal was to discuss and implement better employee policies. A representative from the Texas Association of Counties was present to provide guidance.

February 26
• The sheriff and district clerk spoke to three different sets of kindergarten classes touring the courthouse. They also held a question and answer session with the youngsters. The chief deputy spoke to the same children when they toured the Law Enforcement Center on the same day.

February 27
• A deputy served an arrest warrant for a burglary of a habitation offense on a 35-year-old male who was in the Eastland County Jail. The inmate was then transported to Stephens County Jail. The burglary of the home occurred in the summer of 2018 on CR 287. The Sheriff’s Office solved the crime within a few weeks. The male suspect pled guilty to the offense on Feb. 28, the day after he was retrieved from Eastland. He was sentenced to 8 years in prison. His female co-defendant received 10 years of probation.

February 28
• A deputy served a warrant on a 33-year-old male after his court appearance for a different charge. The arrest warrant was for insufficient bond on a previous hit and run warrant.

• A deputy arrested a 27-year-old male for a warrant on Assault Causing Bodily Injury. The arrest occurred while the male was appearing in court on an unrelated charge. The warrant of arrest stemmed from a time in the past when the male was an inmate in the Stephens County Jail and assaulted a fellow inmate. While in court, the male also received a two-year sentence to a Texas state jail for other offenses.

• The Sheriff’s Office arrested an 18-year-old male on two misdemeanor warrants for Possession of a Dangerous Drug and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3. The arrest occurred while the male was appearing in court on unrelated felony charges.

• A deputy drove to Denison to transport an incarcerated minor from a juvenile delinquent facility back to Stephens County for a court hearing. The minor was sentenced to stay several months in the same facility, so another deputy transported him back to Denison.

• A deputy drove to Abilene to transport an incarcerated minor from a juvenile delinquent facility back to Stephens County for a court hearing.

• A deputy took a report of a stolen fishing rod from a residence on U.S. Highway 180 West. A suspect name was provided. The deputy made contact with the suspect, retrieved the fishing rod and reel, and then released it back to the victim.

March 1
• A deputy obtained two felony warrants on a 33-year-old male for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. The offenses occurred a few years ago but were reported to the Sheriff’s Office in January 2019. There are two female victims. After an approximately two-month investigation, the male suspect confessed on this date. He is in jail on a total bond of $200,000. Other charges may be forthcoming.

• A 28-year-old female was issued a Criminal Trespass Warning for an address in the 600 block of CR 310.

Calls for service include but are not limited to: 911 calls, non-emergency calls, registering sex offenders, working traffic accidents, serving civil papers, transporting prisoners and juveniles in and out of the county, mental hospital transports, court security, some proactive calls, etc.
