Tamales, barbecue, Christmas cookies and much more… For one night last week, thanks to the Rotary Club of Breckenridge, community members could get a taste of all sorts of foods offered by local restaurants.

The Rotary’s third annual Taste of the Holidays brought together seven restaurants at The Popular for an evening filled with food, music and Christmas decorations. Kyle Fambro provided the musical entertainment, and the building was adorned with Christmas trees and wreaths donated by local businesses to the Breckenridge Fine Arts center to be sold in a fundraiser. The food was provided by the following:

  • The Marketplace
  • Angelita’s Mexican Restaurant
  • Alfredo’s
  • United Supermarkets
  • JR’s BBQ
  • Walmart
  • Ernie’s Spanish Kitchen

Each year, attendees have an opportunity to vote on the best food and the best tabletop decorations. This year, the Top Table award went to The Marketplace, and the Top Taste award was presented to JR’s BBQ.

The event was sponsored by InterBank of Breckenridge, McDonald’s, First National Bank, Strickland’s Inspections, Air EVAC-Eastland, and H&H Garden Center. Door prizes and donations were provided by: Chicken Express, Bunkhouse Diva, The Vintage Butterfly, Bertie & Olif Boutique, H&H Garden Center, Stephens Memorial Hospital Gift Shop, Elaine Goswick/Independent Mary Kay Consultant, Main Street Floral & Gift Shop, 40 Something Cowgirls, and Gebo Distributing, Inc.

The annual event is a fundraiser for the Rotary Club with the proceeds from ticket sales going toward the club’s community projects.
