With the Breckenridge Buckaroos varsity football team needing a win Friday over the Clyde Bulldogs in order to make it to this year’s playoffs, the community gathered Wednesday night to light a bonfire and cheer on the team.

The spirit event was organized by The MOB (Mothers of Buckaroos) and held at the baseball fields. The crowd wasn’t deterred by the chilly, drizzly weather and joined in on cheers and the school song to show their support.

Breckenridge and Clyde are tied with 1-3 district records, and the winner of Friday night’s game in Breckenridge will decide which team goes to the playoffs. Wall High School is District 3-3A-Division I’s number one team, while their opponent this week, Early High School, is in last place. Rounding out the district are Eastland and Jim Ned high schools, which are tied at 3-1 and play each other in Eastland this week.
