VFW Auxiliary to host fundraising steak cookoff in November
Breckenridge’s VFW Auxiliary 7767 will host a Steak Cookoff on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the VFW, 216 E. Williams. The contest is a Steak Cookoff Association World Championship qualifier and will serve as a fundraiser for the local VFW Auxiliary.
There will be three categories – steak, one bite challenge and appetizers – and cash prizes in each category. The entry fees are $150 for the steak category, $25 for the one bite challenge and $25 for the appetizer category.
The prizes will be:
Steak
- First place — $1,000
- Second place — $500
- Third place — $400
- Fourth place — $300
- Fifth place — $200
One bite challenge
- First place — $200
- Second place — $100
- Third place — $50
Appetizers
- First place — $200
- Second place — $100
- Third place — $50
The event will begin at 8 a.m. with team set-ups. There will be a cooks meeting and steak selection at 10 a.m. The judges meeting will be at noon. The one bite turn-in will be from 1 to 1:15 p.m.; the appetizer turn-in will be from 2 to 2:15 p.m.; and the steak turn-in will be from 3 to 3:30 p.m. The awards will be at 5 p.m.
