Books, books and more books filled Buckaroo Stadium for a Friday night that focused on reading instead of football when the third annual Buckaroo Book Night took place during the varsity football team’s bye week.

Kids and their parents, grandparents and other family members spread out on the football field with blankets to read to each other on Friday, Oct. 5. They also had the opportunity listen as local celebrities read children’s books out loud. Other activities included a book swap, pumpkin decorating contest, face painting and book selfies.

The pumpkin decorating contest featured a variety of pumpkins painted like the kids’ favorite book characters. The winners of the contest were “Rainbow Fish” by Ally Reyes in the kindergarten-third grade category; and “Polar Bear” by Ava Russell in the fourth-sixth grade category.
