BHS 2018 Homecoming game slated for tonight
The excitement has been building all week, starting with the decorating of storefronts in downtown Breckenridge, featuring dress-up days at the schools all week and continuing with the parade and community pep rally on Wednesday. It was all leading up to today’s main event — Breckenridge High School’s 2018 Homecoming.
The activities will start with a pep rally at 10 a.m. today, Friday, Sept. 28, in the “BISD Athletic and Fine Arts Center” – aka the new gym. The pep rally will include students from North and South Elementary schools, as well as Breckenridge Junior High School and BHS, alumni and visitors.
At about 1:15 p.m. Friday, the BHS Varsity Cheerleaders and the Pride of Breckenridge-Buckaroo Marching Band will take the pep rally on the road and visit East Elementary and the local nursing home.
The varsity football game against Dublin is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in Buckaroo Stadium. Homecoming Court activities, including the crowning of the BHS 2018 Homecoming Queen, will take place during halftime. The BHS marching band will perform at 7 p.m. before the game, in order to allow time for the Homecoming Court activities.
At Wednesday’s Homecoming Parade, dozens of floats participated, many featuring the theme “Buckaroo Empire.”
The parade organizers have announced the float winners:
- First place — Little Bucks Cheerleaders
- Second place — Wee School
- Third place — Chelsi Hodges Miles and the two little girls on the ponies
