School starts today in Breckenridge — drive safely
August 16
07:28 2018

Thursday, Aug. 16, is the first day of school in Breckenridge.

Drivers need to drive safely in the school zones, and remember cell phone use — for texting and/or talking — is banned in school zones by Texas law.

Also, school buses will be in and around town picking up and dropping off school kids. Texas law states that all drivers must:

  • Stop for flashing red lights on a school bus, regardless of which direction you’re headed.
  • Continue your trip once the bus has moved, the flashing lights stop flashing or the bus driver signals it’s OK to pass.
