June 13

  • A vehicle and attached trailer were stolen from a residence in the 3300 block of U.S. Highway 180 East.

 June 16

  • A dog attack report was taken, where a female jogger was bitten in the 2600 block of U.S. Highway 180 East. This was not the first time the dog had been aggressive to others who were not on the dog owners’ property. The owners were issued two citations for not having their dogs vaccinated for rabies. The dog was later quarantined at the Stephens County Animal Shelter, and the Sheriff’s Office applied for a dangerous dog hearing to be held in front of the Justice of the Peace. On June 25 the dog was deemed dangerous, and the owners gave up ownership of the dog.

June 17

  • An assault report was made at a residence on FM 2231.
  • A theft report was made at an address in the 6000 block of U.S. Highway 183 South. Tools and other miscellaneous items were stolen.

June 18

  • Suspicious drug activity initially observed on CR 262 by the Sheriff’s Office resulted in an arrest for Possession of Marijuana and Minor in Possession of Alcohol on an 18-year-old female driver. The passenger was issued a citation for Minor in Possession of Alcohol.

 June 19

  • A deputy served an arrest warrant at a home in the 800 block of East Dyer. A 57-year-old male was arrested for six warrants related to the following: Burglary of a Building, Felony Criminal Mischief, and four city of Breckenridge Class C Misdemeanor citations.
  • The Sheriff’s Office served an arrest warrant on a 27-year-old female for Terroristic Threat to a Family Member. This warrant was served during a traffic stop in the 100 block of South Miller Avenue.
  • A theft report was taken from a business in the 7000 block of U.S. Highway 180 West. Days earlier, cigarettes and other items had been stolen from the store while it was open for business.
  • A deputy recovered stolen property from a previous burglary within the city limits of Breckenridge. The item was returned to the church from which it was stolen.

 June 20

  • The Sheriff’s Office made contact with two males in the parking lot of the EZ-Stop in the 800 block of West Walker Street. They had just driven there. The subsequent investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old male, had a suspended driver’s license and was in possession of marijuana. The passenger, a 22-year-old male, was also in possession of marijuana. Both were arrested and taken to the Stephens County Jail.

 June 21

  • The Sheriff’s Office arrested a 38-year-old male at the courthouse after the 90 District Court ordered him sentenced to prison for a past charge of Possession of Methamphetamine.
  • A deputy served an arrest warrant on a 41-year-old male who was already in the Stephens County Jail. The warrant was related to a past misdemeanor theft offense.

 June 22

  • A deputy arrested a 35-year-old female and a 39-year-old male at the Law Enforcement Center for a warrant related to animal cruelty.

 June 23

  • A 45-year-old female and a 15-year-old male were issued Criminal Trespass Warnings for an address in the 1000 block of CR 176.

 June 24

  • A deputy traveled to Bell County Jail to pick up an inmate who was wanted in Stephens County on a felony charge of Assault on a Family Member with a Previous Conviction. The 39-year-old male inmate was transported to Stephens County Jail.
  • A report of theft and criminal mischief was made in the 1200 block of CR 260. A golf-cart was stolen and a fence was damaged to gain access to the land.

June 25

  • A deputy traveled to Eastland County Jail to pick up an inmate who was wanted in Stephens County on felony charges related to Forgery of a Financial Instrument. The 42-year-old male was transported back to the Stephens County Jail.
  • A boat motor theft was reported near the intersection of FM 578 and CR 178.
  • A report of Terroristic Threat to a Family Member was made, where the victim said that a 33-year-old female had threatened his life in the recent past.

June 26

  • The Sheriff’s Office served arrest warrants on a 50-year-old male in the 1000 block of South Smith Avenue. The four warrants were related to past charges of Resisting Arrest, Public Intoxication, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Marijuana was also found in the possession of the arrested person at the time of his arrest.
  • A deputy took a report of a Discharge of a Firearm across Property Line on CR 224. A stray bullet had broken a window on the house of the reportee. SHERIFF’S NOTE: Please be careful and think ahead when firing guns. You could be held criminally responsible if your rounds leave your property and/or damages something that is not yours.

June 27

  • A deputy traveled to Palo Pinto County Jail to pick up a 19-year-old male who was wanted for warrants related to a crime spree that involved stealing vehicles and other thefts in Breckenridge and Stephens County. The male was transported back to the Stephens County Jail where he was served two warrants for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (two counts of stealing vehicles).
  • A theft report was made in the 6000 block of U.S. Highway 183 South, where copper tubing had been stolen.

June 28

  • A deputy arrested a 27-year-old female in the 1000 block of FM 3201 for two warrants, one for DWI and the other for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
  • A deputy served an arrest warrant on a 32-year-old male who was already in the Stephens County Jail. The warrant was for using a falsification device to pass a drug test.

June 30

  • The Sheriff’s Office went to a house in the 1300 block of West Hullum Street to serve a Motion to Adjudicate Warrant on an 18-year-old male. While serving the warrant, it was determined that the male was also in possession of marijuana. The male was taken to the jail and booked in on the warrant and for Possession of Marijuana.
  • A deputy transported a female to a mental health hospital in San Angelo after an Emergency Detention Order was signed committing her.

July 1

  • A deputy transported a female to a mental health hospital in Wichita Falls after an Emergency Detention Order was signed committing her.
  • The Sheriff’s Office transported a female to a mental hospital in Abilene after an Emergency Detention Order was signed by the Justice of the Peace.

July 3

  • The Sheriff’s Office made contact with a wanted person in the 400 block of South Breckenridge Avenue. The 26-year-old male was arrested on two warrants related to No Vehicle Insurance and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign.
  • The Sheriff’s Office recovered a stolen firearm from an address in the county. The firearm had originally been stolen from inside the city limits of Breckenridge.

July 5

  • A deputy obtained more arrest warrants on the 19-year-old male who was brought to the Stephens County jail from the Palo Pinto County Jail on June 27. The warrants were for the crimes committed in the county. The warrants, one for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and the other for felony Theft, were served on the male, who is still in Stephens County Jail.
  • The Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop on a vehicle that pulled into the 400 block of South Breckenridge Avenue. The 30-year-old male was wanted for a warrant related to a past charge for Possession of Marijuana. He was arrested and taken to the Stephens County Jail.
  • After a month long investigation for cattle theft, a deputy obtained a three count warrant for felony cattle theft. The three warrants were served on the 45-year-old male at his residence in the 700 block of North Harvey Avenue.

July 7

  • A burglary of a home was reported in the 9000 block of CR 332 at Possum Kingdom Lake. Tools and recreational lake items were stolen.
  • A burglary of a home was reported in the 5000 block of CR 287. Three archery bows, Pelican ice chests, and miscellaneous items were stolen.
  • A forgery report was made at a business in the 7000 block of U.S. Highway 180 West. Counterfeit cash was used to purchase items.

 

Calls for service include but are not limited to: 911 calls, proactive contacts, non-emergency calls, registering sex offenders, serving civil papers, transporting prisoners and juveniles in and out of the county, mental hospital transports, court security, etc.
