Following a request from Stephens County Sheriff Will Holt, Sacred Cross EMS recently provided training to local deputies on the proper application of combat tourniquets.

Additionally, Sacred Cross donated six combat tourniquets to the department, along with a myriad of other in-the-field first aid and wound care products.

Last week, Sacred Cross Supervisor Dustin Wright taught a course to all of the deputies on how to properly apply a combat tourniquet to themselves and to others. Each deputy was given a gallon-sized bag bag full of emergency wound care and first aid applicators to stop bleeding, create splints, and prevent infection.

Holt said the Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Sacred Cross EMS for their donation and time, as well as the teamwork they have provided since becoming a part of Stephens County’s first responders.
