On Monday, May 13, Stephens County Commissioners voted 4-1 in favor of amendments to the tax abatement agreement for a wind farm in the southeastern portion of the county.
A public hearing regarding amendments to Stephens County’s tax abatement agreement with La Casa Wind LLC/NextEra Energy Resources is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, May 13, in the District Courtroom on the second floor of the Stephens County Courthouse, 200 W. Walker St.
In a split vote this afternoon, the Stephens County Commissioners Court voted 4 to 1 to approve an agreement that will dramatically change the landscape and skyline of the southeastern portion of the county for years to come with the installation of dozens of wind turbines.
The Stephens County Commissioners Court will hold the public hearing at 9 a.m. March 11 in the District Courtroom in the courthouse, 200 W. Walker St.
Dozens of people attended the Aug. 21 public hearing at the Stephens County Courthouse.
NextEra Energy Resources, aka La Casa Wind, LLC, has filed an application asking Stephens County Commissioners for almost $5 million in tax abatements for a planned wind farm.
The Comptroller’s Office says the project will not be an economic benefit to the State of Texas.
