City Commissioners approve trash service rate increase

In a special-called meeting Tuesday evening, June 12, the Breckenridge City Commission approved a rate increase for local trash service, as requested by Republic Services of Abilene.

The rate change will increase monthly charges by 3.2 percent, beginning with the July bill. For example, according to a rate schedule provided by the city, the weekly cost of a 95-gallon poly cart (blue plastic trash can) pick-up for residential customers will increase 42 cents, from $13.13 per month to $13.55 per month. The cost of an extra residential poly cart pick-up will increase 21 cents, from $6.56 to $6.77.
