Scott Dalton, age 74, of Breckenridge, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 2, at Morehart Mortuary. Services have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.

Gene Scott Dalton was born September 13, 1952, in Tyler, Texas, to Frank C. Dalton, Sr. and Louise Schmidt Dalton. He attended schools and graduated from Arlington High School and then went on to attend mechanic school. On July 4, 1997, Scott married Crystal Lee Finley. He worked as a big diesel engine mechanic, working in Alaska and even St. Croix. Scott later owned and operated Dalton Auto Parts for several years before his retirement. He enjoyed cooking and having cookouts; and was known for his great ribs made on his locomotive smoker. He also enjoyed doing yard work and loved his animals. Scott loved spending time with his family and was always willing to do anything to help anyone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Ann Welton.

He is survived by his wife, Crystal Dalton; two children, Nicole Cantrell and husband Jimmie, and Sean Daniels and wife Amber; six grandchildren, Tanner Cantrell and wife Kayla, Jimi Grace Cantrell, Lexi Daniels, Seth Daniels, Alex Folsom, and M’Kayla Folsom; one brother, Frank Dalton, Jr.; and five great-grandchildren.
