Rodney Bruce Mapp
Rodney Bruce Mapp, 74, of Breckenridge, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and the memories of a life well lived.
Rodney was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and faithful Christian whose strength, humor, and adventurous spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He lived life with grit, authenticity, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the simple joys that mattered most.
Born with a hardworking spirit and a love for adventure, Rodney spent much of his life working demanding jobs that reflected his resilience and determination. Over the years, he worked as a shrimper, trapper, and in the oil field, never afraid of hard work and always willing to provide for the people he loved. His hands were weathered from years of labor, but they were also the hands of a man who built a life centered around family, loyalty, and faith.
Rodney found peace and happiness outdoors. Whether he was hunting at sunrise, fishing on quiet waters, or riding his four-wheeler through the mountains, he felt most at home surrounded by nature. He loved the freedom of the open outdoors, the sound of the wind through the trees, and the company of good friends and family gathered together after a long day. Rodney was also known for enjoying an ice-cold beer, sharing stories, laughing loudly, and making memories with those around him.
Above all else, Rodney loved his family deeply. He shared a devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Laynae Mapp, who stood beside him through life’s many adventures and challenges. Together they built a family rooted in love, strength, and faith.
He was a proud father to his son, Chance Mapp, and daughter, Tessa Mapp, and he treasured every moment spent with them. Rodney especially loved being “Papa” to his grandchildren, Cope Granger, Korbin Mapp, and Mallory Mapp. His grandchildren brought him endless pride and joy, and the memories they shared together will forever remain in their hearts.
Rodney will be remembered for his strong will, his hardworking nature, his love of the outdoors, and the unmistakable presence he brought into every room. He had a way of making people feel welcome, and his stories, laughter, and larger-than-life personality will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Though his earthly journey has ended, his family takes comfort in knowing that Rodney’s faith in God carried him home to eternal peace. His legacy lives on through the family he loved, the memories he created, and the countless lives he touched along the way.
Rodney Bruce Mapp will forever be missed, forever loved, and forever remembered.
