Donald Lee Collett
Don Collett, 59, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, passed away on April 29, 2026, in Oklahoma City. A celebration of life was held on Friday, May 1, 2026, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel in Chickasha.
Donald Lee “Don” Collett was born on September 9, 1966.
Don loved his job, he dreamed of being a radio DJ since he was a child. He was fortunate enough to be able to chase his dreams and work in radio for over 40 years. Breckenridge residents may remember him from the late 1990s to early 2000s, when he was the KLXK-FM program director and on-air personality “Dr. Don” with a morning show.
Don loved music. He will be remembered for his singing; he had a wonderful voice and could sing pretty much anything you threw at him. He was a nerd through and through. His comic book collection numbers in the hundreds. He never stopped reading them, just traded paper for digital. Most importantly, he was a family man. He took care of his daughter and son, no matter what they needed, he tried his very best to make sure they got it. He gave everything he had to his family until his last breath. He loved his mom and his sisters, though they tormented him when they were younger. He was always just a phone call away if they ever needed anything, and he’d do everything he could. He was a good man, a great man, even. The world has lost an incredibly bright light today. May he be remembered for his kindness, his passion, and his sense of humor. The family could never ask for a better dad. He will be missed forever.
Loved ones left to cherish his memory are his son, Jason Collett; daughter, Melora Thomason; grandson, Archer Thomason; granddaughter, Toryn Thomason; and other extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Don’s honor be made to the Chickasha Community Theater, PO Box 1187, Chickasha, OK 73023. Additionally, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to assist his family with expenses (click here).
The Celebration of Life and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
