Local DRT group to sponsor free showing of 2004 ‘The Alamo’ movie on March 21
The Picketville Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will sponsor a showing of the 2004 movie “The Alamo” at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21 at the National Theatre in Breckenridge.
Alamo historian Kolby Lanham will introduce the movie by speaking and showing stills from the film coupled with images of historical documents, artifacts and photographs, to provide a historical analysis of the movie.
There is no cost for the event, and popcorn and drinks will also be provided at no cost.
Seating is limited to 216, so reservations are required. To obtain a free ticket, call Judy Wolfe at 817-307-3934.
The movie is rated PG-13 and stars Dennis Quaid as Sam Houston, Billy Bob Thornton as Davy Crockett, Jason Patric as Jim Bowie, and Patrick Wilson as William B. Travis.
The Battle of the Alamo was fought from Feb. 23, 1836, to March 6, 1836, ending 190 years ago this month.
