Melinda Meroney
Melinda Ann Meroney, 69, of Breckenridge, Texas, (formerly of Odessa, Texas) passed away on February 21, 2026, at Hendricks South in Abilene. The family will be honoring Melinda’s life with a memorial service on Friday, March 6, at 2 p.m. at the Melton Kitchens Chapel of Memories with JB Sparks officiating the service.
Melinda was born to Garth and Nell Bill on December 4, 1956, in Breckenridge. She spent most of her school years in Breckenridge schools as a proud Buckaroo but graduated from Odessa Permian in 1975.
Melinda married Carl Meroney on December 28, 1974, in Breckenridge. They were married for a little over 51 years. Together they had two sons, Ronald Shannon and Kyle Andrew. She retired from Texas Tech Health Science Center in Odessa in 2021 after a long career in Patient Advocacy. After retirement family, grandkids and enjoying their place in country here in Stephens County were the highlight of each day. Thankful for every minute, hour and day spent with those she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Ronnie; son Ronnie Meroney; son-laws Eddie and Bonnie Meroney, Richard and Kathryn Collier; brothers-in-law Bill Hollis and Raymond Harrison; nephew Brad Harrison; and a niece Christie Brooks. Melinda is survived by her husband Carl; son Kyle and his wife Alisha of Pflugerville; sisters Martie Hollis of Breckenridge and Diane Harrison of Cohoma; sisters-in-law Sara Kasky and husband Cliff of Hillman, Michigan, and Janice Rodriquez and husband Robert of Midland, Texas; brother-in-law Bobby Meroney of Odessa, Texas; and grandchildren Karson Andrew and Allison Marie of Pflugerville.
Special thanks to Dr. Kelli Windsor and her staff for the excellent care for the last year, also for Kelly of Beyond Faith Home Health for being such a caring home health nurse to Melinda.
