The last few days of the fall semester were a flurry of holiday-related activities for Breckenridge Independent School District students, especially the younger kids in the district at East Elementary.

On Wednesday, Dec. 17, East Elementary’s first-grade students presented a Holidays Around the World mini-parade around the school. Students dressed in costumes and carried flags and holiday symbols from Italy, Sweden, Mexico, Germany and the Netherlands.

Second-graders went to the Breckenridge City Park on Thursday, Dec. 18, to sing Christmas songs for parents, grandparents, siblings and others who gathered outside the pavilion.

The last day of school for 2025 was Dec. 18. Classes will resume on Jan. 5 for a three-day week with Thursday and Friday off for the Stephens County Junior Livestock Show. BISD continues four-day weeks this year with an occasional five-day week scheduled to make sure the students attend classes for the state-required number of minutes.
