Sara Shepherd
Sara Shepherd, age 97, of Breckenridge, passed away Monday, November 10, 2025. There are no services planned at this time. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.
Sara “Sally” Hanson Shepherd was born on August 11, 1928, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, to Leonard Hanson and Lylabell Schuster Hanson. On January 20, 1948, she married Fulton “Fully” Burl Shepherd in Amarillo, Texas. Together they raised their three sons, Carl, Bruce and Keith, in Amarillo.
Sara moved to Breckenridge a few years ago, where she joined the Woman’s Forum, became involved in the Senior Citizen Center and volunteered at the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center. For a time, she even wrote the Senior Citizen News for The Breckenridge American.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Milan Hanson and Harry “Abe” Hanson; one son, Carl Shepherd; and one great-granddaughter, Phoenix Stephens.
She is survived by her sons, Bruce Shepherd and wife Anita of Breckenridge, and Keith Shepherd of Amarillo; daughter-in-law, Betsy Shepherd of Midland; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
