Breckenridge schools gearing up for new academic year
Breckenridge Independent School District students will return to the classrooms next week for the 2025-26 school year, and there are several upcoming related events starting this week.
The first day of classes will be Tuesday, Aug. 5. Classes will start at 7:45 or 7:55 a.m., depending on the school.
Reduced speed limits — and no cell phone use — will be in effect in the school zones before and after school hours.
Meet the Teacher Night
Breckenridge’s East and South Elementary Schools will host their annual Meet the Teacher Night from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at each campus. Students and their parents will have a chance to find their classroom, meet their teachers, drop off school supplies and more.
Junior High Events
Breckenridge Junior High School has several upcoming events this week and next:

7th and 8th Grade Schedule Pickups – Tuesday and Wednesday, July 29–30 – 9 a.m. to noon. Students must be registered in order to pick up their schedule. If your student isn’t registered yet, registration is available on the BISD website (click here for new student enrollment and click here for returning student enrollment).

Bronco Round Up! – Thursday, July 31 – 6-7 p.m. – All sixth grade Broncos and their families are invited to the BJHS’s annual orientation, starting in LT Cook Gym. Students will tour the campus and learn the ins and outs of the junior high, while parents will spend time with administrators to learn all about the secondary world.

Auditions for the BHS Theater’s Fall Musical – Monday, Aug. 4 – BJHS students are included and encouraged to audition for the Breckenridge High School and Junior High production of “The Wizard of Oz.” Auditions will be at Bailey Auditorium at 4:40 p.m. on Aug. 4. School Supply Donations
BISD is continuing to accept donations of school supplies through the Fill the Bus project. School supplies can be dropped off in donation boxes located at various retail stores, banks, churches and other businesses in the community, as well as at the BISD Administration office, 208 N. Miller St. Additionally, BISD has a Fill the Bus wishlist on the Walmart website. Anyone who wants to purchase school supplies for the school district can visit the website (click here) and see what is needed; supplies can be purchased online and will be delivered to the school district.
