Local AgriLife Extension Office to offer summer classes for kids in grades 3-12
From how to apply makeup to how to tie knots, there is something of interest for every kid through the Stephens County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension office this summer.
Registration is open through Monday, June 13, for the six classes (listed below) for students in third through 12th grade. Kids don’t have to be a 4-H member to participate; but space is limited, so anyone interested needs to register as soon as possible.
The one-day classes cost $30 per student for each class and will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on the days designated for each class. There are several payment options: by check to Stephens County FCH; by Venmo to StephensCounty-Extension Office; and by Paypal to Sumer.Burns@ag.tamu.edu. When making a payment, put the name of the student and class on the payment.

Summer Fun Classes
Face 101
Tuesday, June 21
Students will learn the basic care and makeup application for the face; the class will address appropriate makeup tips for everyday wear.
Jewelry 101
Wednesday, June 22
Students will learn the skills to design, create, market and navigate the jewelry industry.
Bead Work 101
Thursday, June 23
Students will learn the skills of beading from Lazy 3 Beadwork. The art of beading has become popular in western fashion and leatherwork design, according to the ArgiLife flyer.
Hand Lettering 101
Monday, June 27
Students will learn the skills of modern calligraphy. They will learn the basics and different styles, as well as how to turn their lettering into pieces of art.
Gardening 101
Wednesday, June 29
Students will learn how to propagate, grow, and care for ornamental plants. Participants will leave with their own plants to care for at home.
Knot Tying 101
Thursday, June 30
Students will learn the art of knot tying and braiding, a skill that can be applied to mule tape or paracord braiding.
