Janis Carol Hudson, 76, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Her funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021, in the Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories, with JB Sparks officiating. Her interment will be at the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.

Janis was born in Breckenridge, Texas, on March 25, 1945. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1963 and married William Douglas Hudson the same year. Together, they shared two daughters.

After working as a registered histologist for 50 years, Janis retired in 2009 and immediately moved to Lubbock to be with her beloved grandchildren. From that moment on, her days were filled with school car lines, field trips, birthday parties and holidays. She quickly became known as “everybody’s Grammy.”

To all who knew her, Janis was a peaceful, steadfast example of sacrificing for others and a living legacy of faith. Until her last breath, to her children and grandchildren, she was the most caring listener, the most loving lap to sit in, the strongest hand to hold, the safest place to run, and the softest place to fall.

Janis was preceded in death by her sister, Karen, and her parents, Clifford Hart and Joy Hart Henderson.

She is survived by her two daughters, Brandi Coronado and Ponch, and Nikki Bohannon and Jack; granddaughters, Olivia and Preslee Bohannon; grandson, Pierson Bohannon; brother, Gary Hart and Pat; sister, Gayle Hart and Barbara; along with other cherished family members and lifelong friends.

Memorial donations in Janis’ name can be made to the Joe Arrington Cancer Research and Treatment Center in Lubbock and may be left at the Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home office. Condolences can be made online at meltonkitchens.com.
